The story behind the artist drawing your memories

Welcome to Abelia's Art, a small, heartfelt art studio based in sunny Devon, born from a lifelong love of drawing, the magic of love stories and the power of place.

My story

I'm Annabelle, the artist behind the illustrations. Drawing was something I always loved as a child, inspired deeply by my dad, a talented artist and my biggest cheerleader when it came to art. I had already started Abelia's Art on a smaller scale, but when he passed away unexpectedly in 2023, I found myself turning to art as a way to feel connected to him.

In that process, I carried forward not only his creativity but his unwavering belief in turning passion into something real. That belief gave me the courage to pour more of myself into this business and grow it into what it is today.

My style

I first began illustrating landscapes: modern, minimalist pieces inspired by the quiet beauty of natural places I've explored with my partner. It was while planning my own wedding that I discovered the joy of illustrating venues and special places tied to love stories. What started as a personal project quickly became a way to give others beautifully meaningful, one-of-a-kind gifts.

Each illustration begins by hand, with an old-fashioned pencil and fine-line pen, before being digitised and transformed into clean, modern artwork in soft, muted palettes. My style is rooted in a travel art aesthetic, with a flat, minimalist look that lets colours and shapes quietly pop.

Iconic landscape illustrations

I've been carefully curating a growing collection of art prints of favourite iconic landscapes, largely inspired by the breathtaking South West Coast Path, a place close to my heart. My goal is to eventually illustrate all of the UK's National Parks, and one day the National Parks of the US too. It's a slow, intentional journey shaped by my love for wild places.
